Accessible public transport compliance information
The Commonwealth Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (the standards) help to make public transport more accessible. The department provides a publication on Important Information for Public Transport Operators and Providers of Infrastructure and Premises for Compliance with the Commonwealth Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002.

The 'border region' straddles the New South Wales and Queensland borders between the Granite Belt and west of Goondiwindi. The Border Integrated Transport Plan is a joint initiative between the New South Wales and Queensland state and local governments. It is being used to develop a framework to support the transport system to the year 2020.

Caboolture to Maroochydore Corridor Study

Cairns Integrated Public Transport Study
The Cairns Integrated Public Transport Plan has been undertaken to find ways to provide a better public transport system for Cairns. The plan is a priority action of the far north Queensland regional plan, which identified the need for convenient, reliable and effective public transport services. Its focus is to develop strategies for a public transport system in Cairns that is equitable, accessible and provides a viable alternative to the private car.

Capricornia Integrated Regional Transport Plan
The Capricornia Integrated Regional Transport Plan was developed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in partnership with Fitzroy, Livingstone and Mount Morgan Shire Councils and Rockhampton City Council. The plan aims to help meet the emerging transport needs of the Capricornia region, in response to growth in population, employment and industry within the region.

Cycle South East

The SEQ IRTP is a 25-year plan, which maps out an integrated transport system to cope with the growing demands of our region, and includes strategies to manage the high growth in car travel by promoting alternative modes of transport such as cycling.

Determination of the state of the health science for ultrafine particles

Gladstone Integrated Regional Transport Plan
The Gladstone Integrated Regional Transport Plan was developed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Gladstone City Council, Calliope Shire Council, QR, Gladstone Port Authority and the Gladstone-Calliope Aerodrome Board. It was developed in partnership between state and local government to deliver the region's transport system. The plan sets a comprehensive framework for the future development of the region's transport network up to 2030.

Hazard perception test
All P1 type provisional licence holders must pass the hazard perception test in order to graduate to either a P2 type provisional or open licence (dependent on age).

Heavy vehicle guidelines — information bulletins and forms
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has established guidelines to help road transport industry operators comply with the law. The guidelines are based on the law, so they have the same authority as acts of parliament or regulations.

High-powered (performance) vehicle restriction
High-powered (performance) vehicle restrictions apply for the duration of P1 and P2 licence periods for under 25 year olds. These restrictions also apply to probationary licence holders who return from a disqualification to a P1 or P2 probationary licence, where at the time of the offence they were under 25 years of age. These limits apply for the duration of the probationary period regardless of age.

Industry codes of practice
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has produced codes of practice for approved inspection stations and approved persons to use when inspecting vehicles for a safety certificate or certifying a vehicle modification.

Integrated Transport Planning Framework
The Integrated Transport Planning Framework publication is a guide for transport planning in Queensland. It sets out a collaborative, consistent and sustainable approach to transport planning. Light vehicle modifications
Modifications to light vehicles can be approved in three ways: minor, complex or specific modifications. The Motor vehicle modifications booklet provides legal and safety guidelines for people wishing to modify vehicles with a gross mass up to and including 4.5 tonnes from the manufacturer's original specifications. The guidelines also include motorbikes.

National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme
The National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme has been developed to offer transport operators a means to voluntary comply with regulations. In order to become accredited to the scheme, operators must implement a system in their business that provides documentary and auditable evidence to prove they are complying with the standards.

P1 licence
Once you have successfully completed a practical driving test, you are eligible to apply for a P1 or P2 provisional licence. A P1 licence for a car (class C) will only be issued to people under the age of 25. You will receive a P1 handbook when you gain your P1 licence. This will provide information about your P1 licence and outline the conditions and restrictions of your licence.

Pedestrians
Pedestrian public education aims to raise awareness of the consequences of unsafe walking and to encourage motorists to exercise caution when driving in areas where pedestrians are likely to be.

Projecting loads
Drivers of cars, utilities and trucks transporting loads that project beyond the outer edge/s of their vehicle or trailer must obey the laws governing the safe moving of these loads. These laws have been developed to protect all road users.

Safe school travel (SafeST)
Each year, a number of students are injured as they travel to and from school. The Department of Transport and Main Roads is committed to reducing student injuries and fatalities through the Safe School Travel (SafeST) package. The latest version of the School environment safety guidelines provides more than 1700 Queensland schools with an easy-to-use tool needed to make school road environments safer for children.

Safe towing
Towing is very different from everyday driving—it requires additional driving skills and safety precautions. As a driver, you have a legal responsibility to drive to suit the conditions. This also applies when you are towing a trailer or caravan. Also, the towing vehicle, trailer and its load must meet all legal and safety requirements.

School environment safety guidelines
The school environment safety guidelines aim to reduce the number of school-transport-related crashes by strengthening the tools school communities use when planning school road safety infrastructure and support. School zone speed limits
School zones have been introduced to reduce traffic speed near schools during the times children normally use or cross the road. Zones are identified by signs which are displayed on either side of the approach to the school and show the speed limit and the times during which it applies. Penalties are enforced for exceeding the school zone limit.

Queensland Transport, along with the Department of Main Roads and State Development, Trade and Innovation, the Port of Brisbane Corporation and Queensland Rail Network Access, is conducting the South East Queensland Intermodal Freight Terminals Study.

South East Queensland Travel Survey

Speed limits

Townsville Thuringowa Integrated Regional Transport Plan
The Townsville Thuringowa Integrated Regional Transport Plan represents the commitment of the Queensland Government, Townsville City Council and the City of Thuringowa to develop and implement an integrated transport plan for the region. It establishes Townsville and Thuringowa's current and future transport needs and a range of strategies and actions to address these needs.

Traffic controller accreditation scheme
Traffic controllers help make roads safer for people during road construction, road maintenance and special events. It is important that there is a scheme in place to improve safety for all road users, including traffic controllers. The traffic controller accreditation scheme was introduced to achieve these outcomes.

Transport 2007
The Transport 2007 action plan for south east Queensland focuses on the need to reduce single occupant car use in peak hours and promotes the use of public transport, cycling and walking as alternative forms of travel. It complements the Integrated Regional Transport Plan as a medium-term action plan for south east Queensland. The plan represents a balanced program of transport investment in infrastructure, services, operations and policy actions, to benefit all sectors of the community.

Transport Portfolio Code of Practice for Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems
The Code of Practice provides a framework for all of Queensland Transport's portfolio agencies to develop procedures that ensure a high standard in the capture, management and release of images from Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems.

Wide Bay Integrated Transport Plan
The Wide Bay Integrated Transport Plan was released in December 2002. The plan recommended strategies to improve the way that people and freight move around and through the region for the next 20 years and beyond.

Written-off vehicles
