Atherton Tablelands Rail Trail Feasibility Study

The Atherton Tablelands Rail Trail Feasibility Study evaluates the economic feasibility of developing disused rail corridors as recreational 'rail trails' for walking, bicycling and/or horse riding.

Caboolture to Landsborough Rail Upgrade Study

Queensland Transport has investigated the need to upgrade the main North Coast rail line between Caboolture and Landsborough.

Caboolture to Maroochydore Corridor Study

The Caboolture to Maroochydore Corridor Study proposed a passenger rail service branching off the North Coast railway line at Beerwah and extending through Caloundra to Maroochydore. This new line will provide a public transport spine for the Sunshine Coast and link the coastal urban area to Brisbane.

Cairns Integrated Public Transport Plan

The Cairns Integrated Public Transport Plan was a priority action of the Far North Queensland Regional Plan, which identified the need for convenient, reliable and effective public transport.

Capricornia Integrated Regional Transport Plan

The Capricornia Integrated Regional Transport Plan was developed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in partnership with Fitzroy, Livingstone and Mount Morgan Shire Councils and Rockhampton City Council. The plan aims to help meet the emerging transport needs of the Capricornia region, in response to growth in population, employment and industry within the region.

Connecting SEQ 2031

The Department of Transport and Main Roads are preparing a new regional transport plan for South East Queensland titled Connecting SEQ 2031: An Integrated Regional Transport Plan for South East Queensland.

Cross River Rail

Cross River Rail will provide a new rail link connecting the Caboolture/North Coast rail line to the Beenleigh/Gold Coast rail line through the inner city by 2016 to help increase the capacity of Brisbane’s rail system. Extra tracks across the river and through the inner city will enable more trains to operate on the region’s rail network, benefiting passengers from the Sunshine Coast to the Gold Coast.

Cycle South East

Cycle South East was launched in 1999 and is an initiative of the integrated regional transport plan for the region. The 25-year plan maps out an integrated transport system to cope with the growing demands of the region, and includes strategies to manage the growth in car travel by promoting alternative modes of transport, such as cycling.

Eastern Downs Integrated Transport Plan

The Eastern Downs region, located in the heart of the Darling Downs, is one of Australia's prime agricultural areas. The Eastern Downs Integrated Transport Plan addresses emerging transport needs for the Eastern Downs region.

Gold Coast Rapid Transit

Gowrie to Grandchester Rail Corridor Study

The Gowrie to Grandchester Rail Corridor Study was a joint initiative between the Department of Transport and Main Roads and QR. The purpose of the study was to investigate a rail corridor that relieves the constraints on rail operations caused by the Toowoomba and Little Liverpool Range crossings.

Gulf Savannah Integrated Regional Transport Plan

The Gulf Savannah Integrated Regional Transport Plan project was established by Queensland Transport and QR. The purpose of the study was to investigate a rail corridor that alleviates the constraints on rail operations caused by the Toowoomba and Little Liverpool Range crossings.

Industry Capability branch

Department of Transport and Main Road's Industry Capability branch partners with the transport and logistics (T and L) industry to develop and maintain sustainable, workable solutions across Queensland. The department works with industry to address the current and projected skills and labour shortages across all modes of the transport and logistics - road, rail, sea and air.

Integrated Development Assessment System

Since September 2005, Department of Transport and Main Roads has been a concurrence agency under the Integrated Planning Act 1997. This role relates to development proposals that may have a significant adverse impact on land use and transport coordination, or on the safety and operational integrity of railways and future railways. As a concurrence agency, the Department of Transport and Main Roads is able to assess, impose conditions on or refuse particular development applications using the Integrated Development Assessment System.

Integrated Transport Planning Framework

The Integrated Transport Planning Framework is a guide for transport planning in Queensland. It sets out a collaborative, consistent and sustainable approach to transport planning.

Integrated transport plans

An integrated transport plan is a plan to develop and manage the transport system of a region in an integrated manner which supports the agreed plans to accommodate the region's forecast population growth, employment, economic and social activities.

Ipswich to Springfield Public Transport Corridor Study

The Queensland Government is studying future public transport options, infrastructure and services between Ipswich and Springfield.

Land Use and Public Transport Accessibility Index

The Land Use and Public Transport Accessibility Index is an innovative planning tool that seeks to measure how easy it is to access common destinations (for example, health, education, retail, banking and employment) by walking and/or public transport. This is in contrast to the traditional method of measuring accessibility by road distance, and is the first of its kind to consider public transport as a means of access, rather a facility to be accessed.

Landsborough to Nambour Rail Corridor Study

The Landsborough to Nambour Rail Corridor Study is an early phase of the Landsborough to Nambour Rail Project. The study will include comprehensive community consultation to assist in the identification of a preferred route and an Environmental Impact Statement.

Mackay Area Integrated Transport Plan

The Mackay Area Integrated Transport Plan provides a comprehensive framework for future development of the transport network and services to the year 2025, and an overall analysis of the Mackay area transport system. It identifies and addresses current and future transport challenges and includes a plan to help meet emerging transport needs for the Mackay area. It is the first comprehensive, integrated plan for Mackay that considers all modes of transport.

Nautilus: Connecting Noosa, Nambour and Maroochydore

Nautilus is a Public Transport Corridor study on the northern part of the Sunshine Coast. The South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan 2005-2026 (SEQIP) has allocated six million dollars funding for the Nautilus study over a four year period 2005 to 2009. Queensland Transport will investigate options for public transport corridors and modes that will provide efficient infrastructure to link Noosa, Nambour and Maroochydore.

Oil vulnerability mitigation

Responsibility for responding to the report from the Queensland Oil Vulnerability Taskforce Report (2007)(the McNamara Report) was transferred to the Department of Transport and Main Roads in June 2009

Princess Alexandra Hospital Cycleway

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) Cycleway is one of many exciting new cycling infrastructure projects improving Brisbane's cycling and pedestrian network, to be completed in August 2009.

Principal Cycle Network Plan for Far North Queensland

In March 2007, the Department of Transport and Main Roads began developing a Principal Cycle Network Plan for far northern Queensland. As part of developing the plan, the Project Team consulted with Local Governments and the community to establish a draft principal cycle network for Far North Queensland.

Queensland Transport's Interests in Planning Schemes

The Department of Transport and Main Roads, as a state agency, has areas of interest in the preparation and review of planning schemes. In order to guide local governments, and other stakeholders, the department is preparing policies clarifying Queensland Transport's Interests in Planning Schemes (QTIPS).

Rail Network Strategy

The primary purpose of the Rail Network Strategy is to sustain the rail network and its continuing contribution to the government's desired transport outcomes. The strategy outlines Queensland Government priorities, such as jobs growth and the promotion of Queensland. Above all, it reinforces the importance of appropriate infrastructure development for the success of the state.

Regional Airport Development Scheme (RADS)

The Queensland Government's Regional Airport Development Scheme has been developed to assist local governments to upgrade aviation infrastructure in regional and remote areas of Queensland. Funds are available to a maximum of 50 per cent of the original capital cost of the works. A guideline is available for download.

Robina to Tugun Rail Impact Assessment Study

The Robina to Tugun Rail Impact Assessment Study examined technical environmental, social and economic aspects and identified a preferred alignment for the rail corridor.

SEQIPRail infrastructure

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is managing the delivery of new and upgraded passenger rail infrastructure throughout south east Queensland.

South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program

The South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program is the statutory regional planning strategy that guides growth and development in south east Queensland. The final plan was released by the Queensland Government and the South East Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils on 30 June 2005. The primary purpose of the plan is to provide a sustainable growth management strategy for south east Queensland to the year 2026.

South East Queensland Integrated Regional Transport Plan

This is a 25 year plan to develop and manage the transport system in a way that supports the agreed plans for accommodating the region's expected major population and employment growth.

South East Queensland Intermodal Freight Terminal Study

Queensland Transport, along with the Department of Main Roads and State Development, Trade and Innovation, the Port of Brisbane Corporation and Queensland Rail Network Access, is conducting the South East Queensland Intermodal Freight Terminals Study.

South East Queensland Principal Cycle Network Plan

The South East Queensland Principal Cycle Network Plan guides the development of the cycle network across the region by mapping existing and preferred principal cycle network routes. This plan replaces the 2003 Integrated Regional Cycle Network Plan for south east Queensland.

South East Queensland Travel Survey

Queensland Transport and the Queensland Department of Main Roads has commissioned The Urban Transport Institute and I-view Pty Ltd, to design and conduct the South East Queensland Travel Survey. A brochure has been produced which explains various features of the survey. The purpose of this survey is to collect essential information on the day-to-day travel and activities of people living in south east Queensland - how they travel, where they go, when, why and so on.

Southern Freight Rail Corridor Study

Freight movement across Queensland is expected to double by the year 2020, with the most rapid growth anticipated to be in south east Queensland. As part of the effort to plan for this growth, the Department of Transport and Main Roads has engaged Maunsell Australia to undertake preliminary planning and impact assessment for the Southern Freight Rail Corridor Study (previously known as the Southern Infrastructure Corridor).

Toowong Cycle and Pedestrian Overpass

The Toowong Cycle and Pedestrian Overpass is a cycle and pedestrian overpass over the Western Freeway near the Toowong roundabout linking Mt Coot-tha Road to the Western Freeway Bikeway.

Torres Strait Transport Infrastructure Plan

The Torres Strait Transport Infrastructure Plan was undertaken by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in close consultation with Torres Shire Council and the Torres Strait Regional Authority. It recommends strategies for ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable access to freight and passenger transport services throughout the Torres Strait Islands and includes an implementation plan.

Townsville Port Access Impact Assessment Study

The Townsville Port Access Impact Assessment Study was undertaken by Townsville City Council, the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Queensland Rail and Townsville Port Authority. It considered the impacts of future land side access options to the Port of Townsville. It was completed in December 2000.

Townsville Thuringowa Integrated Regional Transport Plan

The Townsville Thuringowa Integrated Regional Transport Plan (the plan) is the result of collaboration between Queensland Transport, the Queensland Department of Main Roads, Townsville City Council and Thuringowa City Council. The plan is a signature project of the broader regional planning exercise which produced the Townsville–Thuringowa Strategy Plan.

Transport 2007

Released in April 2001, Transport 2007 is an action plan for meeting the transport needs of south-east Queensland for the next seven years. It is a stepping stone to ensure the region's 25-year plan (the South East Queensland Integrated Regional Transport Plan) is on track, and covers all modes of transport, infrastructure, services and policies. Transport 2007 is linked to expected transport funding and provides a realistic picture of transport investment in the region.

Transport Coordination Plan for Queensland 2008–2018

The Transport Coordination Plan sets the strategic direction for Queensland's transport system.

TravelSmart

TravelSmart encourages the use of environmentally-friendly transport such as public transport, cycling, walking and carpooling. It supports voluntary change in the behaviour of individuals and organisations by raising awareness through campaigns and improving access to information and opportunities to use environmentally-friendly transport.

Western Brisbane Transport Network Investigation

The Western Brisbane Transport Network Investigation (WBTNI) is a critical initiative of the 2005 South East Queensland Regional Plan and South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program.

Wide Bay Burnett Integrated Transport Plan

The Wide Bay Burnett Integrated Transport Plan covers 6 local government areas in the region. The plan will recommend strategies to improve the way people and freight move around the region for the next 20 years and beyond.
